« Exposing the Global "Corpratocracy" | Main | A Lawyer Walks Into a Bar ... »

I just finished reading Birds Without Wings by
Louis de Bernières.  My review is at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3399.Birds_Without_Wings  I recommend it to those interested in the birth of the Turkish nation and the relationship of the Turks with the Greeks.

p.256 "This was the age when everyone wanted an empire and felt entitled to one, days of innocence perhaps, before the world realized, it it yet has, that empires are pointless and expensive, and their subject peoples rancorous and ungrateful."

I would be interested in reading more about what happened in the other areas of the Middle East at this time as well as in the Balkans.
